Sarah Elizabeth Hughes
Sarah came to Prestwood to live at 36 Trinity Ave nearly four years ago. When she arrived she was very flat and had no motivation and chose not to partake in any activities. Now through the continuous and dedicated work from her support staff she has a full and varied activity programme which includes an arts and crafts course, weekly visits to the local toning tables, and regular meals out and cinema nights. She has also been on a number of holidays in the UK and is planning to visit Disneyland Paris later this year.
Nathaniel Hughes
Nathaniel is a 28-year-old male with a diagnosis of moderate learning disability. He loves doing sport and going to college. He also loves to buy designer clothes. He is a friendly young man and will socialise with other people within the house.
He is able to plan and prepare meals for himself (a very good cook), and is unable to carry out any domestic tasks without support, prompting and encouragement.
He has some difficulty in understanding how to manage his finances at times, and will spend all his money without thinking of another day. He has a good relationship with his father on and off. He will go home occasionally over the Christmas period for a week or so. He will contact his mother at times but will easily fall out with her and her family
He has been in Prestwood since 2009 and since then he has come a long way, attending college courses and gaining many qualifications. He is involved in competing with other students at sports events at the end of college season and has won many medals for swimming, running and other events. He has also had placements for work experience in gardening, and tree and forest maintenance. The level of support hours has been reduced each year since he came here. He has progressed to being very independent and is comfortable in being out in the community.
His placing authorities have now found a more suitable placement for him in supported living; this will give him the opportunity to live as independent as possible. He is due to move out in the next few weeks.
